Thanks for sharing! I’m curious as to why you say Gartner/Forrester are totally broken in this new paradigm? Is it bc they are playing catchup to the SaaS business model transformation like many B2B co’s. Are you referring to the quality of their research/data, how they monetize it… both/neither?
My take is that their model can’t really keep up with the growth of new categories and new vendors. They only have a few thousand analysts and each analyst can only cover so much. I think there is a lot of surface area that they don’t cover and/or don’t adjust as fast as the market changes.
I don't think there is anything negative about a more mercenary approach to work. It feels like a positive– a shift towards viewing your job as what you do to get paid. Not who you are. It's a transaction, and pretending otherwise has been damaging to collective mental health.
